What's new: Flying in her footsteps... Grace McGuire Honors Amelia Earhart

Within minutes of meeting Grace McGuire, you know she’s someone special. She is absolutely passionate about Amelia Earhart and her story; she’s a crusader for the truth. On McGuire’s plate are two books, a movie and the much anticipated Flight; not to mention the need for a special mechanic who will accompany her on the historic journey.

By Spring 2011, McGuire will roll out her completely restored 1935 Lockheed Electra L-10E (the last one of only 15 originally built) named “Muriel” after Earhart’s sister. The completely VFR journey will be the same route that Earhart used in 1937 and be as similar to Earhart’s flight as today’s regulations will allow.

Although she’s hit almost every roadblock possible, she still tells her story with such reverence; Muriel is her baby. “Fate is testing me at every turn,” says McGuire, “but Amelia knew what she was doing when she picked me… I’m not a quitter.” - Sarah Solis
