Keep the Lines Clear & Free of Grease

Keep the backhoe out of the front yard from grease-clogged lines

Nothing is better than the aroma of a fresh-baked turkey from the kitchen. Grandma used to make the best giblet gravy from the turkey drippings – the grease. However, if you prefer the store-bought kind of gravy for family gatherings and don’t know what to do with the left-over cooking grease, here’s a suggestion: Put it in an old coffee can or other container you can seal. DON’T POUR IT DOWN THE DRAIN !

Even running hot water afterwards, the grease is going to coagulate somewhere in that line, whether it’s in your lateral, or the County sewer lines. Although grease may not stop up a main sewer line, the solid mass can and does get trapped by other debris in the line. The result can be a clogged line which is costly and inconvenient to repair, especially if it's in your front yard.

Help us keep the highways safe, the storm drains clear, and the sewer lines grease free.

Thanks, from all of us at DPW - Working For You
