Arnold Way (South Grade Road to Petra Way) in Alpine is CLOSED due to a water main break.
Update Jan 31: Padre Dam Municipal Water District is working to make permanent pipe and road repairs caused by the water main break on Arnold Way in Alpine. The District was pumping water into their reservoirs over the weekend to insure continuous uninterrupted water supply to the Alpine community.
A detour on Arnold Way between South Grade Road and Petra Way remains in effect. Please avoid the area if possible and watch out for crews working to make these repairs.
South Santa Fe Avenue will be CLOSED in both directions between Mar Vista Drive and Woodland Avenue (time and date to be announced and posted here) for an Oversize Load Crossing of the NCTD railroad tracks and utility work. Businesses and residents will be granted access to their properties within the closure; however, access will be granted from Mar Vista Drive. Traffic control flagger personnel will be positioned at Mar Vista Drive, Montgomery Drive and York Drive to assist motorists through the closure. A detour map is available here.
San Diego County's Department of Public Works maintains nearly 2,000 miles of roads in unincorporated areas. We continually inspect, repair and maintain paved and unpaved roads to provide the best possible driving surfaces for our customers. Certain maintenance and repair activities may necessitate the temporary closure of a County roadway.
In addition, occasional community events such as parades or street fairs may require closing a road temporarily.
Road closures for pre-planned construction, repair or other maintenance, or for special events are listed on this page. Road closures (and re-openings) related to storms, accidents, or other unplanned events are posted and continuously updated on Twitter.com/sdcountydpw and the DPW Facebook page. During severe weather and other on-going emergency situations, notices of road closures and other advisories are posted and continuously updated on the DPW Emergency Page.
During inclement weather before you travel, check out Country Club Dip in Harmony Grove and Quarry Road Dip in Spring Valley via webcam - provided by County Flood Control District.
You can help us by reporting road problems on line with the DPW Service Request Form.
Here is a listing of short-term Special Event permits that require road closures, suspension of "No Parking," etc.
