CI is a program that funds medical care for uninsured adult county residents. CI uses a network of 16 community health centers along with hospitals and community physicians throughout San Diego County to provide health care services.
Individuals may be eligible for the Coverage Initiative Program if they meet the following criteria:
- Not be receiving Medi-Cal benefits
- Be 21 through 64 years of age
- Be a San Diego County resident
- Be a US citizen or legal alien with 5 years residency (with some exceptions)
- Meet CI financial requirements
There is no property limit for CI.
