County of San Diego Golden Guardian 2010 Exercise

The Golden Guardian Statewide Exercise Series was first implemented by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2004, and has become an annual statewide exercise series conducted to coordinate prevention, preparation, response and recovery mechanisms of city, county and state governmental entities, and private sector and volunteer organizations.

The goal of the Golden Guardian Exercise Series is to build upon the lessons learned from this and subsequent exercises conducted throughout the nation, as well as real-world events.

Golden Guardian is currently the largest statewide exercise program of its kind in the country.

Scenario:

The Golden Guardian 2010 theme is a terrorist attack in multiple ports throughout California and will take place over multiple days in May 2010.

In San Diego County the Golden Guardian 2010 exercise has been aligned with the Coast Guard's Bay Shield exercise and the West Coast Maritime Project - San Diego Preventive Radiological/Nuclear Detection exercise.

Golden Guardian play in San Diego County will be on May 17th and 18th.

The 17th will focus on intel analysis and a presentation on San Diego County terrorism response and resources for public safety agencies' management and leadership.

The 18th will focus on a full-scale operational response to a terrorist attack in San Diego County.

Hours of operation will vary in response to exercise goals and scenario requirements.

5-18-10: Golden Guardian 2010 Full Scale Exercise
